Corporal Tommy Jardas was a phenomenal young man who graduated from Cypress Lake High School in 2011 and enlisted in the Marines. Tommy was one of 12 Marines killed in a helicopter crash in Hawaii in January 2016. His friends and family raised money to place a memorial in his honor on the Cypress Lake High School campus.

A 30' flagpole has been installed along with pavers, landscaping and benches along with a piece of granite that tells Tommy's story.

On Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 12 p.m. there will be a dedication for the memorial. The United States Marine Corps will perform the flag raising ceremony, the Cypress Lake High School Dance Team and Jazz Band will perform 'Battle Hymn of the Republic', there will be a presentation of the Corporal Tommy Jardas Scholarship Award, a performance by Guns 'n Hoses Pipes n Drums and lunch provided by Mission BBQ.
