Hundreds of students, parents, teachers, and community leaders from a variety of educational options will come together to have their voices heard in support of expanding school choice options in Pennsylvania at a rally in Pittsburgh on Friday.

The event, planned for January 26 at 10:00 a.m., will feature students from Catholic, charter, and magnet schools performing the official National School Choice Week dance. The goal of the event is to spotlight a variety of educational options for Pennsylvania students and tell student stories. The celebration is timed to coincide with National School Choice Week (January 21-27, 2018), which will feature more than 32,000 events across the country.

“Families, students, and educators in Pittsburgh deserve to be celebrated and we’re excited to do just that at our upcoming School Choice Week rally,” said Ana Meyers, executive director of the Pennsylvania Coalition of Public Charter Schools. “This is a great opportunity to celebrate the diversity of choices offered in Pennsylvania and together with a broad coalition, we will be shining a spotlight on effective education options for every child!”

Event organizers include Pennsylvania Coalition of Public Charter Schools, REACH Foundation, Pennsylvania Catholic Conference, Foundation for Excellence in Education, and Americans for Prosperity – Pennsylvania.

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through more than 32,000 independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children.
