Since the middle of December, our procurement and supply chain teams have been working hard to minimise any customer disruption following the well-publicised bad weather in Europe and Northern Africa. Over the past few days, growing conditions in some key supply areas have worsened further, with flooding being followed by exceptionally cold weather and poor light levels.

As a result, we are about to enter a period of extreme disruption to product supply and several key salad and vegetable lines will be unavailable, some for significant periods of time.

The products most likely to be affected are as follows:

  • Lettuce, including cos, iceberg, romaine and little gem
  • Babyleaf, including rocket and spinach
  • Broccoli
  • Courgettes
  • Hard salads, including cherry tomatoes, peppers and celery. Aubergines and cucumbers are not currently a serious issue, although availability is tight

Availability on the above lines remains difficult to predict due to the challenging conditions in Europe. However, we will endeavour to keep you updated when we are aware of confirmed shortages of particular lines, so that you can decide upon an alternative product that best suits your needs.

Should you have any queries, please speak with our customer services team on 01992 809 200.
