Bonial International Group, a global network for location-based shopping information, today announced that its free app, Retale TM, has reached one million downloads in just 78 days. The mobile app and website gives shoppers a digital alternative to paging through the deals in print circulars and localizes information based on the user's location.

Retale debuted on October 28, 2013, and has already seen great success. In addition to reaching 1 million downloads, the app hit #1 in PLAY, the Google app store for Android phones and conquered the overall Top Ten of the free apps category in Apple's app store.

"As consumers evolve their shopping behaviors to include online and mobile, retailers are expanding their content distribution strategies to engage those shoppers," said Pat Dermody, President of Retale. "Retale allows retailers to extend one of their most important advertising tools, the circular, into the mobile space where users can see the full story of retailers' weekly features and deals."

At launch, nearly 20 retailers were sharing their circulars on the app. Now working with more than 50 top retailers from across the country, including Macy's, Target, Kohl's and Toys"R"Us, Retale replicates the print circular experience in a digital format, while providing new functionality that can't be incorporated into print. Shoppers can page through the digital version as they normally would, but they also can search by product or brand to locate local store sale items, create shopping lists, create alerts for items, share deals with friends on social media, and even view videos or other product information.

For retailers, Retale provides new opportunities to reach circular readers who are migrating from print to digital, as well as a the strongly growing new generation of shoppers who are more likely to shop using their mobile devices or tablets. According to a recent Nielsen study retailers spend 60-70 percent of their marketing budget on printed ad circulars.

"The circular has always been the driver for retailers to get consumers into local stores," said Dermody. "The fact that Retale has 1 million users just 78 days after launching is a strong sign that the circular is equally attractive via mobile."
