Over 300 vacancies will be on offer at the latest SSI Task Force Jobs and Skills Fair on Wednesday 27th January at Middlesbrough College between 10am - 3pm.

More than 30 different employers, along with local colleges, are expected to take part in the event. Confirmed companies include Preston's of Potto, NCS Energy Recruitment, Barclays, AXA, Cleveland Police and RMS Recruitment. Over 200 people have already found new jobs as a direct result of the previous two SSI Task Force Jobs Fairs.

The event aims to help former SSI staff, supply chain workers and their families find new employment and retraining opportunities, although anyone from the area looking for work is welcome to attend.

Chair of the SSI Task Force and Chief Executive of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council Amanda Skelton said: 'We are still seeing a lot of interest from companies keen to employ former SSI and Supply Chain workers. The Jobs and Skills Fair is a great opportunity to match people looking for work with available jobs. Our training funding is very flexible and can help people update their existing skills or retrain for a different career.'

Employers can also benefit from wage subsidy funding through the SSI Task Force Jobs and Skills Fund, designed to encourage businesses to create new job opportunities. Funding will support businesses to employ former SSI employees, supply chain workers affected by the closure of SSI and spouses or partners of workers, who are living in the same household. The scheme will subsidise the cost of employment for positions made available for a minimum of three years.
