ALISO VIEJO, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 8, 2015) - Predixion Software, a developer of cloud-based predictive analytics (PA) software, today announced its predictions for the coming year for the growing predictive analytics market. The five predictions indicate that consumer expectations are rising for software and devices that anticipate their needs and that predictive analytics is disrupting specific industries like healthcare and the Internet of Things (IoT). The full list of Predixion's predictions is available here: https://www.predixionsoftware.com/News/Blog/Post/1670.

Following is an excerpt from the Five Predictions for 2015 in Predictive Analytics:

1. Predictive Analytics will be a key differentiator for modern apps: Embedded predictive analytics, e.g. on devices, in memory or in real-time analytics systems will become more frequent. Consumers will expect their software to anticipate their needs, driving requirements for predictive technologies in all apps. Spatially aware apps will become more intelligent and more common -- the "who is near me" functionality of technologies/apps like Waze and Tinder will become more intelligent and prevalent in other apps.

2. Business Intelligence (BI) is dead: Predictive Analytics is the new black: Looking back in time to answer 'what happened?' is no longer sufficient. In order to truly benefit from data and infrastructure investments, analytics teams want to understand what could happen. Or better yet, how to stop something bad (or expensive) from happening and how to repeat something good (or profitable) so it happens more. Some established Business Intelligence (BI) developers will add predictive analytics to their existing offerings, but many analytics teams will do this on their own by predictively-enabling their existing BI infrastructure and dashboards. This trend will drive the need for a broader understanding of predictive concepts and greater flexibility and usability of existing predictive analytics platforms.

3. New use cases for predictive analytics will fuel change in key industries: 2015 will bring surprising new uses for predictive analytics as applied to healthcare and the Internet of Things (IoT). More and more healthcare organizations will use predictive technologies to provide cost and health benefits by anticipating adverse events like readmissions and infections. In IoT, predictive technologies will be able to guess when a device is about to experience a failure and walk the end user through the steps to resolve it ahead of time -- avoiding downtime, and creating a differentiated user experience.

"We are thrilled to be at the forefront of this dynamic market called Advanced Analytics," said Simon Arkell, CEO, Predixion Software. "We see tremendous potential in getting predictions into the hands of non-data scientists where they can be used in practical ways to improve our daily lives and outcomes. 2015 is going to be a break-out year for predictive analytics. We expect to see a variety of new use cases emerge across industries and Predixion plans to play a significant role in that."
