SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Parents Education Network (PEN) announced today that Melissa Fedoronko has been named as its new Executive Director, effective January 5, 2017. Ms. Fedoronko will succeed Laura Maloney.

PEN is the Bay Area's leading provider of support services for students, parents and teachers impacted by learning and attention differences like dyslexia and ADHD.

PEN works to empower and bring academic and life success to the 1 in 5 students impacted by learning and attention differences. PEN operates a variety of programs including a speaker series, a teen self-advocacy group and professional development workshops. PEN also produces EdRev, an annual, one-day educational event and celebration at AT&T Park. PEN's programs operate in San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Sacramento, Los Angeles and Phoenix, AZ.

Ms. Fedoronko brings to PEN her deep experience both in and out of the classroom supporting students with learning and attention differences. She is currently the lead learning specialist at Gideon Hausner Jewish Day School. She has previously worked with both Sand Hill School and Charles Armstrong School, which solely serve students with learning and attention differences.

"After an exhaustive search, the board unanimously agreed that Melissa's background and track record makes her the ideal choice for PEN." said PEN Board Chair Jenna Ellis. "She brings so much to our mission to collaborate with educators, students and the community to empower and bring academic and life success to students with learning and attention differences. On behalf of the entire board, I would like to thank Laura for her 13 years of commitment and leadership."

"I am eagerly looking forward to joining PEN," said Ms. Fedoronko. "My goal is to build upon the tremendous foundation laid by Laura, where I may utilize my perspective as a former educator and move beyond the school setting to grow the organization and have a larger impact on the LAD community. I am excited for the opportunity and look forward to getting started."
