Advertised Prices for Dairy Products at Major Retail Supermarket Outlets ending during the period of 01/21/2022 to 01/27/2022

The total number of both conventional and organic dairy ads decreased by ten percent from last week. The total number of ads for conventional butter in 1-pound packages decreased by 41 percent, while the national weighted average advertised price of $3.19 was up 5 cents from $3.14 last week.

Total ads for conventional yogurt declined by 14 percent; organic yogurt ads declined by 3 percent. Conventional Greek yogurt, in 4 - 6 oz containers, was found in 38 percent fewer ads this week. The weighted average advertised price for this item increased by 4 cents. Organic yogurt in 32 oz containers was the most advertised organic yogurt product, while appearing in 2 percent fewer ads this week. The weighted average advertised price fell by $0.52, to $3.31.

Conventional cheese ads increased by 23 percent this week. Conventional 8-ounce shred cheese overtook conventional 4-6 oz Greek yogurt as the most advertised dairy product, after appearing in 36 percent more ads this week. Conventional 8-ounce shred cheese's weighted average advertised price increased by 5 cents to $2.43. There were no tracked organic cheese products present in ads used for this week's survey.

Conventional milk ads decreased by 26 percent, while organic milk ads grew by 10 percent this week. The number of ads for milk in gallon size containers decreased by 52 percent, and the weighted average advertised price decreased by $0.67 to $2.99. In contrast to this, ads for organic milk in gallon containers increased by 45 percent, while the weighted average advertised price fell to $5.19, down 1 cent from week 2. This week, the most advertised organic dairy item was milk in gallon size containers.
