Roddy steps down after three years at the top

NFU Scotland's North East region has a new chairman as Aboyne farmer Davie Winton takes on the role.

Davie, a member of Dee/Don branch, farms at Haugh of Birse. He takes over from well-known North East dairy farmer Roddy Catto, Hillhead of Muirton, Whitecairns, who has chaired the region for the past three years, having previously spent two years as Vice Chairman.

Insch farmer, Alan Simpson, from Mains of Leslie remains a regional Vice Chairman and is joined by Andrew Connon, North Quilquox, Ythanbank who fills the vice chair role vacated by Davie. Alan is a member of Huntly and Insch branch while Andrew is a member of New Deer.

The appointments were made at the Region's busy AGM, held in Thainstone Mart, Inverurie last night (19 January) following which a packed crowd heard from the six members standing for election a Union President or Vice President at the national AGM, being held in Glasgow next month.
