Modern Fertility, the women’s health company that makes fertility information more accessible, today announces Scott M. Nelson, Ph.D., MRCOG. as the newest member of the Modern Fertility Medical Advisory Board. Dr. Nelson is a worldwide leader in fertility research, and brings over 12 years of experience in human reproductive medicine. He is considered the foremost expert in the clinical applications of anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) testing. In addition to his expertise in AMH, Dr. Nelson has ongoing European Union and National Institutes of Health funded research programs in in vitro fertilization, and women and children across their life spans.

Dr. Scott M. Nelson currently holds the titles of the Muirhead Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Glasgow and is a consultant in the Assisted Conception Unit at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. His unparalleled contributions to the reproductive health space have accumulated in over 160 scientific journal publications, including notables such as The Lancet, BMJ and JAMA. Dr. Nelson earned his Ph.D. at the University of Dundee and furthered his academic research as a clinician scientist at the University of Glasgow.

Dr. Nelson’s experience will serve to further Modern Fertility’s ongoing mission of delivering the best science-backed results to customers from its personalized fertility hormone test. The test offers women valuable information, like how hormone levels relate to ovarian reserve, egg freezing and IVF, menopause, and more. This appointment comes on the tails of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s selection of Modern Fertility’s groundbreaking clinical study for a prize presentation at the Society’s annual meeting. This study supports that minimally invasive testing methods and traditional blood draw can be used interchangeably.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Scott Nelson on board,” says Modern Fertility co-founder and CEO Afton Vechery. “He is one of the most well-regarded doctors in the fertility space, and his research expertise aligns with everything we aim to accomplish in bringing science-backed fertility information to women earlier in life.”

“Modern Fertility is bringing the latest clinical research to women’s doorsteps, and I knew I wanted to be a part of that as the company is helping more women to be aware of their fertility health earlier in life,” says Dr. Scott M. Nelson. “I’ve worked with many couples who receive this information when it’s too late, so when I discovered Modern Fertility I was inspired by the work that the company is accomplishing to help transform fertility health for the better through accessibility.”

Dr. Nelson joins several other brilliant minds on the Modern Fertility Medical Advisory Board including Nataki Douglas, M.D., Ph.D., Chair of the Modern Fertility Medical Advisory Board, along with board members Julie Lamb, M.D., FACOG., Robert Luo, M.D., M.P.H., Sajo Beqaj, Ph.D. and Amber Worthington, Ph.D.

ABOUT MODERN FERTILITY

Modern Fertility is a women’s health company that empowers all women to make informed decisions about their health, starting with fertility. Modern Fertility takes the same lab tests previously confined to fertility clinics and makes them more accessible by allowing women to take the tests at home or in a nearby lab for a fraction of the cost. By educating women and arming them with powerful information about their reproductive health, the company is closing the fertility information gap and enabling women to have more data for decision-making. Co-founded by Afton Vechery and Carly Leahy, Modern Fertility has raised a total of $7 million to advance fertility science so women can learn more about their bodies on their own terms.
