Bratislava (18 January) - Reiterating the excellent bilateral relations between the Slovak Republic and the Italian Republic marked the start of the talks between State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic and Slovak Government Proxy for the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Ivan Korčok, and the new Italian Ambassador to the Slovak Republic, Gabriele Meucci.

The Italian ambassador confirmed that one of the priorities of his activities will be further deepening the economic and cultural cooperation between Slovakia and Italy. Italy ranks among the leading investors in Slovakia. State Secretary Korčok and Ambassador Meucci acknowledged that boosting cultural cooperation between citizens of the two countries is a useful supra-structure for good political relations.

The partners also discussed timely European and global policy issues. 'Overcoming uncertainty within the EU and international relations is the key challenge we will face in 2017,' stated State Secretary Korčok.
