The international crude oil price for Indian Basket as computed/published today by the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas went up to US$ 109.17/barrel (bbl) on 04.01.2013. This was lower than the price of US$ 109.66//bbl prevailing on the previous trading day of 03.01.2013.

In rupee terms however, the crude oil price went up marginally to Rs 5987.97/bbl on 04.01.2013 from Rs 5967.70/bbl on 03.01.2013. This increase was due to price increase in dollar terms as rupee depreciation moderated most of the increase. Rupee dollar-exchange rate on 04.01.2013 at Rs54.85/US$ against Rs 54.42/US$ on previous trading day of 03.01.2013.
