The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teodor Melescanu, met today, 19 January 2017, the Ambassador of People's Republic of China in Romania, Xu Feihong, during a courtesy visit.

During the meeting, they carried out an exchange of views regarding the current level and the prospects of evolution of bilateral relations at political, economic, and people to people interaction level. The Minister of Foreign Affairs pointed out the attention that the Romanian party is constantly paying to consolidate the Extended Partnership for Friendship and Cooperation with the People's Republic of China, an issue with is highlighted in the Governance Program of the new government in Bucharest. Both parties underlined the interest to materialize economic cooperation projects in key areas in Romania, such as infrastructure and energy, as well as to diversify the bilateral commercial exchanges.

The two officials reiterated their willingness to continue the close cooperation using the format China - Central and Eastern Europe, as well as within UN and in other multilateral bodies.
