On January 26, 2016 the Head of Africa and the Middle East Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Mr. Igor Leshchenya met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa to the Republic of Belarus Mrs. Nomasonto Maria Sibanda-Thusi.

The sides discussed current issues of the bilateral agenda, including the development of the legal base, preparation of the next round of ministerial consultations, the joint committee for trade and economic cooperation, trade forums with a participation of representatives of business circles of the two countries.

The sides also reviewed cooperation in the sphere of industry and agriculture, including the activity of the representative offices of Belarusian enterprises in South Africa as well as cooperation in education and culture.

Taking into account the positive experience of interaction between the Minsk region and the South African province of Free State the sides agreed on joint efforts to intensify inter-regional relations.
