The staff of the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Milan held a ceremonial commencement of work for the New Year on 02January 2017. The proceedings commenced with Consul General, Pradeepa Saram hoisting the National Flag followed by the National Anthem. After observing two minutes of silence for fallen heroes, the traditional oil lamp was lit prior to taking the oath of public servants.

Consul General addressed the staff on the necessity to work honestly and diligently ensuring the prompt and unwavering contribution of all members of the staff, for the implementation of the programme launched by the government to eradicate poverty.

The staff also joined to watch the telecasted programme on government's 'Sustainable Development Vision' declared by H.E. the President, on Monday at a ceremony held in the Presidential Secretariat.

The event concluded with the staff enjoying a traditional breakfast with milk rice and sweetmeats.
