According to the Federal Statistical Office [1], new manufacturing orders rose between October and November by 1.5% in price, calendar and seasonally adjusted terms.[2] The proportion of large-scale orders was slightly below average for the month of November. The volume of orders for capital goods remained virtually constant (-0.1 %); orders of consumer goods fell by 2.4%. Orders of intermediate goods rose by 4.8%, a considerable increase over the previous month. Positive stimuli for industry came from domestic sources (+2.6%) and from outside the Eurozone (+1.4%). Order activity from the Eurozone decreased slightly (-0.5 %).

The two-month comparison, which is less susceptible to fluctuations, also showed a 2.0% increase in the volume of new industrial orders for October/November compared with the corresponding preceding period. Domestic orders increased by 2.5% while order activity from abroad rose by 1.7%.

Following a decline in new orders in the third quarter, there are increasing signs that demand in manufacturing is slowly picking up. The indicators of sentiment in industry are also sending positive signals.
