Adventures With Arthropods provides 26 lessons, many of which support theNext Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The activities teach students everything from anatomy, growth, and behavior to the eating preferences and environmental needs of three arthropod groups. They also illustrate arthropods’ many essential ecological services, without which global ecosystems would collapse.

Author Ron Wagler is the founder of the Living Arthropod and Environmental Education Laboratory—the first and only laboratory dedicated to research related to arthropod education. He explains which arthropods are classroom-safe and what’s involved in caring for them humanely. Although the book’s target audience is middle school teachers, it’s also useful for formal and informal learning at zoos, museums, and nature centers.
