Rosenthal is charged with supporting and accelerating IRI’s operating excellence efforts as well as bringing to market the company’s next-generation data-integration solutions. He will lead IRI’s efforts to deliver a unique competitive advantage in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) market with advanced technology that delivers forward-looking insights, prescriptive analytics, and an open, democratized, real-time set of platforms.

“Our clients look to IRI to arm them with solutions to continue winning in their existing businesses as well as identifying new sources of growth,” says Appel. “We are committed to delivering our current and new services in a manner that exceeds client expectations. Michael’s track record of driving operational performance improvements and experience overseeing large-scale operations are well suited to helping us deliver growth and disruptive innovation."

Prior to joining IRI, Rosenthal held multiple leadership positions as a senior vice president at Accretive Health. During his tenure, he delivered against a broad set of responsibilities, including managing a P&L of $350 million in gross revenue, managing large client relationships, running day-to-day operations, launching new service offerings, and overseeing a number of strategic initiatives.

Before Accretive Health, Rosenthal was a partner at McKinsey & Company, where he served as a leader in the Operations & Technology practice. Rosenthal served as a senior counselor to Fortune 100 COOs, CIOs, business unit leaders, and other executives on operations, technology, organization, and strategy issues. His tenure at McKinsey lasted more than 10 years with a client base that included global investment banks, securities services firms, stock exchanges, market data and information providers, and private equity firms in cities around the world. His client engagement experience covers a wide span of business functions, including the development of growth strategies, the design and optimization of global operating models, and the execution of large change programs.

“As one of the top five market research firms in the world and the leader in delivering meaningful market and shopper information, IRI is in a powerful position in today’s complex and demanding marketplace,” said Rosenthal. “Opportunities for business growth in CPG manufacturing and retail require a business approach that takes into account very real challenges, and leverages massive and diverse data sources to deliver powerful insights. I look forward to contributing my expertise in operational effectiveness and continuous improvement to help IRI maximize its client growth opportunities.”

Rosenthal earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering and a second bachelor’s degree in economics from The University of Pennsylvania. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania.
