LiveEnsure®, Inc. today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office ("USPTO") has issued the company United States Patent number 8935769, “Method for Mobile Security via Multi-Factor Context Authentication,” for its Digimetrics® technology, which provides contextual user authentication. The domestic patent is also being filed internationally.
Designed for minimal personal imposition and maximum privacy, LiveEnsure provides absolute certainty in user authentication based on a user’s device, location, knowledge and behavior. Unlike conventional authentication solutions that use biometrics or credentials such as logins and passwords, LiveEnsure exposes no personal data to third parties and stores no user information on the device used for authentication. It works without certificates, tokens, SMS, biometrics, NFC, OOB, OTP or other outdated, risky, invasive and ineffective techniques.
How it works
The LiveEnsure solution uses a mobile app deployed on devices including smartphones and wearables. The app pairs users with systems such as ecommerce web sites, in-store points of sale, building access systems and ATMs, which use only a few lines of LiveEnsure code.
When a LiveEnsure-enabled system detects a user it calls LiveEnsure via an API. LiveEnsure Digimetrics technology assesses the user authorization request in context, including the device being used and the user’s location, interaction with that specific device and other dynamics. Digimetrics uses advanced mathematics to correlate the variables based on the context of the authentication request. With LiveEnsure, no two users look the same, even when using the same device in the same location. It’s truly unassailable authentication.
