"Latvijas Balzams" looks back at a successful year

"Latvijas Balzams looks back at a successful year" - highlights  Baltic business newsletter NEWS2BIZ. The Largest Latvian and Baltic producer of alcoholic beverages "Latvijas balzams" is evaluating 2012 as a productive and successful year both in local and export markets.

"Each year we produce about 70m bottles of beverages. To visualise: if you put the bottles one end to the other, they would nearly stretch across the Earth," says Guntis Aboltins-Abolins, CEO of Latvijas Balzams, to news2biz.

In addition to the exports, the company also has a strong position in the Latvian market. Despite growing imports, it maintains a 24% share (57% among local manufacturers) and eight out of ten best-selling alcoholic beverages in Latvia are produced by Latvijas Balzams.

Its latest new product has just hit the shelves. Called Riga Black Vodka, its name and design alludes to Riga Black Balsam, and the company claims that its quality will allow it to compete with other vodkas both in Latvia and in export markets.
