5 January 2017

This is a further update about the strike action intended by the members of the Maritime Union of New Zealand (MUNZ) at Lyttelton Port.

LPC has received another strike notice from MUNZ. This is for Friday 20 January and Saturday 21 January.

As you are aware we also have strike notices for the next two weekends: 7-8 January and 14-15 January.

LPC and MUNZ were in mediation today but unfortunately this has not resulted in progress towards a settlement. Further discussions with MUNZ are planned for 12 January.

Contingency plans are in place to manage container shipping during the strike periods and, as we have previously advised, no other port services will be affected by the strike action.

We are very disappointed to receive a further strike notice as we are committed to continuing negotiation and potential settlement.

Your patience and ongoing support during this time is appreciated and we will keep you updated.
