Twenty five university students from Cambodia, who are highly interested in Japan, are scheduled to visit Japan from January 13th to 21st, 2020 as part of the Japan’s Friendship Ties Programs, “JENESYS 2019” promoted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA).

They will visit Tokyo and Tokushima to experience international program under the theme of “Japanese Culture Exchange (Regional Revitalization)”. In Tokyo, they will have a lecture on the Japan-Cambodia relations. In Tokushima, they will visit Tokushima prefectural government office and Tokushima University to exchange opinions on the Host Town Initiative for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 and so on. They will experience the homestay program to raise awareness of Japanese regions, and also experience Awa-Odori (Traditional Dance), Aizome (Indigo dye) to have a better understanding of Japanese culture.

Through this program, we hope the friendly relationship between Japan and Cambodia will be strengthen, and the participants proactively share the appeals of Japan and its culture which they experienced in Japan after returning to their home country.

People with the ability and future mission to deliver messages between Japan and the countries and regions of Asia and Oceania are invited and dispatched in order to promote an understanding of Japan with regard to politics, economics, society, culture, history, foreign policy, and the like, and pro-Japanese people and experts on Japan are discovered in order to strengthen Japan’s message to other countries and expand Japan’s diplomatic foundation by having the guests and dispatches take the initiative to spread information about the diplomatic stance, appeals, and other facets of Japan.

In order to contribute to making Japan a "Sports Nation", encouraging globalization, revitalization of local areas and promoting inbound tourism toward the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Japanese government will spread the "Host Town" local authorities all over Japan which are trying human, economic and cultural exchanges with the participating countries/regions.
