ST. LOUIS, MO--(Marketwired - Jan 2, 2014) - Fields Foods®, a locally owned and operated grocery store specializing in locally-produced food products and trusted brands, will open its doors to the public on January 4th at 1500 Lafayette Avenue near the south side of St. Louis. The highly anticipated store is dedicated to bringing fresh, high-quality foods to residents of St. Louis -- which has several urban food desert areas where healthy, nutritious food options have long been limited.

Mayor Slay and other community leaders will be on hand for a ribbon cutting ceremony and opening celebration on Friday, January 3rd prior to the store's official January 4th opening. The Ribbon Cutting will be at 4 pm. From 4-8pm guests will be able to tour the new store and sample products.

Fields Foods partners with local farmers and food producers to offer a wide assortment of the freshest food products, including many organic, pesticide-free and GMO-free choices. Fields Foods' focus on locally-sourced products supports the local economy, helps small and mid-sized local food growers bring their delicious products to a larger market, and gives back to local communities.

Starting January 4th, Fields Foods will be open seven days a week from 7am-10pm. The new store, located walking distance from the Lafayette Square business district, is a one-stop shopping experience for those looking for an excellent, healthy selection of foods. In addition to offering vine-ripened produce, fresh meats and seafood, dairy, baked goods, bulk products and everything else you would look for from your full-service grocery store, Fields Foods offers a wide selection of local foods as well as delicious chef-prepared, ready-to-eat meals, a wine bar, a wide selection of beers, a sushi bar, and hot sandwiches and pizzas made on-site in an authentic brick oven.

"We are excited to open a store that not only fulfills the critical need for fresher and healthier food choices in St. Louis, but also benefits our local communities and supports the local farmers and food producers that work tirelessly to create products that are the true essence of what food should be about -- but have struggled to make their products attainable to a large market," said Richard Cashion, Fields Foods general manager. "Shoppers will find our new store welcoming and enticing, with every department designed to create a charming and memorable experience every time they visit."

Fields Foods has brought over 100 new jobs to the community and prides itself on providing employees with a great work environment and creating a friendly, helpful team. Don't miss the opportunity to visit Fields Foods for yourself to see how the vision to create healthier communities one bite at a time has borne the area's best new grocery store and gathering place for food lovers.
