Italy issued 7 billion euros ($7.51 billion) in a new 20-year, September 2043-dated government bond, or BTP, via a bank syndicate on Tuesday, one of the joint bookrunner banks said.

Orderbooks for the bond exceeded EUR26.5 billion, including EUR3.7 billion demand from the joint lead managers, the same bank said.

The spread on the new BTP was set 12 basis points above the yield of the 1.80% March 2041 BTP.

Joint bookrunners of the issue were Brclays, BNP Paribas, Citi, Goldman Sachs Bank Europe and IMI-Intesa Sanpaolo.
