ISA Continues Free Webinar Series on Soybean Management, Profitability

January 21 Webinar Features Fred Below, Ph.D.

BLOOMINGTON, ILL - January 12, 2015 - The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) is hosting a series of checkoff-funded webinars for soybean farmers and agronomists, designed to offer practical tips for improving yields and profitability during the 2015 growing season.

"Illinois growers are looking for information to help them improve their profitability in 2015," says Don Guinnip, soybean farmer from Marshall, Ill., and ISA Production Committee chair. "Based on the strong attendance for our first webinar, we know this is important information for growers as they prepare for the upcoming season." 

The next webinar will be held Wednesday, Jan. 21, and will feature "Six Secrets of Soybean Success" by Fred Below, Ph.D., University of Illinois professor of plant physiology and crop sciences.  Below will share updates from his 2014 field research results and practical advice for helping growers plan for 2015.

Certified crop advisers (CCAs) attending this webinar can receive one continuing education unit (CEU) in crop management.

  • Feb. 17: "Nutrient Planning and Soybean Management" by Howard Brown, Ph.D., GROWMARK, Inc. manager of agronomy services.  CCAs attending this event can receive one CEU in nutrient management.
  • March 4: "Achieving Profitability in Challenging Grain Markets in 2015 through New Tools," featuring Dan Dempsey, AgYield, Clarendon Hills, Ill., and Kevin Kennedy, Kennedy Family Farms, Walnut, Ill.  Growers attending this webinar will review the process of building a profitable revenue management/grain marketing strategy, including real-life situations, and the process growers can take to improve profitability in 2015.
