LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwired - Jan 13, 2014) - The Hensoldt product line of Cassidian Optronics GmbH, a subsidiary of Airbus Defence and Space, entered into a close cooperation with EuroOptic Ltd, Montoursville, PA, with regard to the distribution of sights and optics within the United States. EuroOptic is taking over primary distribution as well as maintenance responsibility of Hensoldt products for the United States military and security sector. At the SHOT Show, Las Vegas, Hensoldt is represented together with EuroOptic in booth 13913.

Alex Roy, owner of EuroOptic, commented: "Hensoldt offers significant growth potential. We built our business focusing on high performance European optics. Thus, a stronger relationship with the most respected optics manufacturer in the world is priceless." Furthermore, he introduced Sylvia Ehinger as responsible sales manager for Hensoldt products, being primarily responsible for business development and oversight of all significant sales opportunities. Sylvia Ehinger, who used to work for Carl Zeiss Optronics, the predecessor of Cassidian Optronics, looks forward to selling Hensoldt products: "I have been working for Carl Zeiss for over 25 years in various capacities and truly believe that Hensoldt optical quality is unrivaled."

EuroOptic will also serve as the service and repair provider for Hensoldt products in the US. This will improve service turn-around-times significantly and US customers have a local partner to talk to.

The traditional German brand Hensoldt stands for state-of-the-art telescopic sights and optical periscopes. Hensoldt AG became part of Carl Zeiss in 1928 and was merged with Cassidian in 2012. Within Cassidian Optronics, Hensoldt continues to stand for quality in sights and optics. An example is the Hensoldt ZF 3.5-26x56 telescopic sight which, as a result of its simultaneously high optical quality and compactness, has convinced experts worldwide. Another main advantage of Hensoldt is the modular approach. The compactness of all sights and optics allows the shooter to use night-vision attachments without having to make additional adjustments, rendering the need to re-zero-in weapons for night-time operations superfluous.

With around 800 employees at its sites in Oberkochen and Wetzlar, Germany, and in Irene, South Africa, Cassidian Optronics GmbH develops and manufactures optic and optronic products for use in military systems on land, at sea and in the air, as well as for border and security technologies and civil high-tech and space systems. As a leader in the global defence and security technology market, Cassidian Optronics combines the optic and optronic high-precision technologies of Carl Zeiss with Airbus Defence and Space's own know-how.
