About 71 percent of the world is covered with water but unfortunately less than 3 percent of it is fresh water. As a result, locating sustainable fresh water for drinking purposes is an increasing problem around the world as surface water and groundwater resources are depleted due to overdraft or pollution.

In India, Geophysicist Sudha Agrahari knows what it takes to detect uncontaminated water in rural villages that depends on new water sources for survival. With ABEM Terrameter LS, Sudha and her team use ERT (Electrical Resistivity Tomography) as their primary tool. By employing geophysics, the quality of the groundwater aquifers can be mapped in detail and the best location for an extraction well pointed out.
