The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for December 2013 decreased by 0.34 units or 0.29% to 117.49 units compared to 117.83 in November 2013. This is mainly due to decreases in the prices of electricity, air fares, potatoes and certain clothing items. Increases have been recorded in the prices of certain fresh vegetables.

The rate of inflation for December 2013 decreased by -2.3% compared to -2.1% in November 2013 and 1.1% in December 2012.

The rate of inflation for the year 2013 recorded a decrease of -0.4% compared to the previous year. It is worth noting that 2013 is the first year since 1964 that a negative annual rate of inflation is recorded.
