Statements by Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos at the meeting with representatives of the Coalition for Romania's Development

I wanted us to organize this meeting so that you may directly contact the Ministers. I have already informed the Ministers about the discussion we had a couple of weeks ago. I informed them about the importance we attach to the cooperation with the Coalition for Romania, starting from the positive experience which was translated already in more measures that the previous Government took and which us, now, we can translate them into practice, therefore, this positive experience that we want to capitalize on in the months to come, which remain to us until the end of the term of office, so that, during this year, we try where we can, to improve legislation, or to upgrade our procedures, in order to turn the business environment, from state perspective, in an increasingly attractive one, transparent and more credible for all investors.

As I signaled on my visit to Germany, to France and I hope until this first half of the year, a visit to the United States, focused on the economic issues, the signal we want to give is that the current Government, through the decisions taken and the measures enforced, wants to bolster further on the investors to capitalize on the relative good situation of the Romanian economy, the economic grown prospects, for us to build on the positive experience and at the same time, to improve even more the economic environment through a simplification of procedures, curtailing bureaucracy as much as it is possible.

Therefore, in this direction, I will call on all Cabinet members who have portfolios and responsibilities in direct or indirect connection with the economic environment, business environment, to be more receptive to suggestions, propositions put forwards by the members of the Coalition for Romania. There are as far as I understood, working groups, on topics which already rely on past experience, therefore, in Ministries, each Minister should find the traces of this experience. I will request you, Cabinet members to reactivate these working groups together with representatives of the Coalition for Romania and under direct coordination of the Vice Prime Minister Costin Borc, who will be in direct contact with the Coalition for Romania, with general representation, there where there are things we need the expertise and the ideas of the Coalition for Romania, you, Ministers, request meetings with these working groups, to present draft laws or draft Executive Decisions with an impact on the economic environment, and there, where they consider they can make us useful suggestions, I will ask them to make these suggestions and request these working groups to be convened in order to hold these discussions. And here, once again, Mr. Costin Borc will supervise them, on the part of the Government: surely, I will be directly involved, I have already said, I have the State Adviser Dragos Paslaru who will be in contact with the Coalition for Romania, and then, when there is necessary my involvement, be sure that I will be with you, as it is in our interest. Therefore, this evening has as purpose, as objective: that the Cabinet members get to know with the representatives of the Coalition for Romania, and to establish, to start the dialogue, perhaps, with this very evening, for us to establish certain topics for working. We will continue, as we discussed lately, we will continue the meetings we will organize at central level, between Prime Minister, Vice Prime Minister and your representatives. Have a nice evening!
