BERLIN, July 17 (Reuters) - Germany must adapt its spending policy to respond to global developments and therefore also adjust spending for international humanitarian aid, Finance Minister Christian Lindner said on Wednesday.

"The balance is shifting a bit," he said at a news conference in Berlin, adding that Germany had a lot more to invest in its "hard security".

"And in reverse, we can't continue to be involved everywhere in the world as we have been up to now, because even Germany's potential as the fourth-largest economy in the world will be limited at some point." (Reporting by Thomas Escritt, Miranda Murray, writing by Kirsti Knolle)
