GEICO kicked off the new year by extending its decades-long partnership with the United Service Organizations (USO).

Members of the GEICO Military Department dropped by the USO’s Arlington, Va., headquarters earlier this month to present the company’s donation. The USO will use the contribution to continue to fulfill its longstanding mission to strengthen America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation.

“We are proud to support the tremendous work the USO is doing to help military communities that serve our nation and protect our freedoms. GEICO’s roots are in providing insurance coverage for members of the armed forces. Supporting those who serve our country remains a top priority for us,” said Wayne Petro, director of GEICO’s Military Department, a team of mostly veterans dedicated to addressing the needs of service members.

For more than three decades, GEICO, one of the nation’s top auto insurers, has supported the invaluable work of the USO, which has provided services for U.S. service members and their families for more than 76 years.

“GEICO helps the USO strengthen our nation’s military service members by keeping them connected to the things they hold dear,” said Lisa Anastasi, USO chief development officer and senior vice president of development. “From resources for our Mobile USOs, which provided hurricane relief and more in 2017, to resources for our USO centers around the world that provide service members that important link back home – GEICO truly understands what it takes to be a Force Behind the ForcesSM. We cannot thank them enough for their ongoing commitment to our mission.”

GEICO (Government Employees Insurance Company) is a member of the Berkshire Hathaway family of companies and is the second-largest private passenger auto insurance company in the United States. GEICO, which was founded in 1936, provides millions of auto insurance quotes to U.S. drivers annually. The company is pleased to serve more than 16 million private passenger customers, insuring more than 27 million vehicles (auto & cycle).

Using GEICO’s online service center, policyholders can purchase policies, make policy changes, report claims and print insurance ID cards. Policyholders can also connect to GEICO through GEICO Mobile, reach a representative over the phone or visit a GEICO local agent.

GEICO also provides insurance quotes on motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), boats, travel trailers and motorhomes (RVs). Coverage for life, homes and apartments is written by non-affiliated insurance companies and is secured through the GEICO Insurance Agency, Inc. Commercial auto insurance and personal umbrella protection are also available.
