JOHNSTON, IOWA - Paul Lovelace, co-director/producer of the Discovery Channel documentary Hot Grease, will discuss how creating the film turned a biodiesel novice into a biodiesel supporter.

Hot Grease premiered on Discovery in November 2017. The film follows biodiesel producers in Houston, Texas as well as grease collectors, fuel retailers, and supporters such as Iowa's own Senator Chuck Grassley, to tell the story of American biodiesel. It highlights biodiesel's incredible potential to achieve widespread use and acceptance as well as current policy and market challenges.

'I'm honored and thrilled to take part in the 2018 Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit,' Lovelace said. 'Outside of talking about my experiences making Hot Grease for the Discovery Channel, I look forward to hearing the wide variety of participants included in this year's lineup.'

Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) Communications Director Cassidy Walter said she hopes Hot Grease increases consumer awareness of biodiesel and its many benefits.

'Discovery Channel airing a deep-dive documentary on the success of American biodiesel will have a far-reaching impact,' Walter said. 'As more people learn about and utilize this high-performing, clean fuel, the greater the benefit for the country's air quality and environment. We look forward to discussing the future of biodiesel with Paul at the Summit.'

The Summit is free to attend and open to the public. Registration is required. The last day to preregister is January 26, 2018. The Summit will take place at the Meadows Conference Center at Prairie Meadows in Altoona, Iowa on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.
