Latvia became the 18th member of the eurozone on 1 January, joining the 330 million people who use Europe's single currency -the euro. It is the second Baltic state after Estonia in 2011 to adopt the currency.


The euro and Lativian currency the lats will both be in circulation for the first two weeks of 2014, with change usually being given in euros. After this transition period only the euro will be legal tender in the country.
