Proposal for a regulation
Recital 5 a (new)
Text proposed by the Commission
Amendment
(5a) The Common Fisheries Policy should cease to apply in all UK waters (including to the full extent of the UK EEZ) from the moment that the UK leaves the European Union. In addition, the Common Fisheries Policy should not apply during any transition period.
Or. en
Justification
The Common Fisheries Policy has been an economic, social and environmental disaster for the UK. Releasing the United Kingdom from a policy so damaging to its interests is a key Brexit priority and allows the UK government to do the right thing by the UK's fishermen, ports, coasts and waters.
