The South and South-West Asia Office of UNESCAP (ESCAP-SSWA) will host a High-level Seminar on 'The Future of World Economy and Globalization in the aftermath of Global Financial Crisis: Implications for Developing Economies,' on 14 January 2014 in New Delhi. The High-level Seminar will feature a keynote address by Nobel Laureate Professor Joseph E. Stiglitz, President of the Initiative for Policy Dialogue (IPD) at Columbia University in the United States.

Professor Stiglitz and other eminent panelists will take a critical look at the emerging economic trends in the world economy in the context of a subdued and uncertain economic outlook and review the implications for developing and emerging economies like India.

Professor Stiglitz has been the world's most cited economist since 2008 and in 2011, was named as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine.
