By WIESBADEN- According to provisional results of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), some 28.3 million pigs were kept in Germany on the reference date of 3 November 2012. This was an increase in the stock of pigs of about 0.5% within the last six months. In the same period, the number of holdings with a minimum of 50 pigs or 10 breeding sows decreased by 1.7%.
