MADISON, Ind., Jan. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- DST today congratulated Madison, Indiana on its newly completed Community Revitalization Plan.

Madison's local leaders produced the plan as part of the city's push to win the $10 million America's Best Communities competition. DST contributed $15,000 to the Indiana city and its 12,000 residents as part of the competition's Adopt-a-Community Program.

The $10 million America's Best Communities competition -- sponsored by Frontier Communications, DISH Network, The Weather Channel, and CoBank -- aims to jumpstart economic development and investment in rural America. On January 13, Madison will find out if it will advance into the next round of the competition.

"It has been truly inspiring to see people throughout Madison come together in support of this innovative vision that will strengthen the local economy and enhance quality of life," said Rick Filarski, Vice President of Strategic Relations for DST Customer Communications. "We are proud to have taken this opportunity to support Madison in the America's Best Communities competition, and we are excited to see what this vibrant community does next on its journey to an even better tomorrow."

The best revitalization plans -- those with the most innovative ideas being effectively implemented -- will win additional investments in the next rounds of the competition. In addition to DST's $15,000 contribution, Madison received a prize grant of $35,000 from the America's Best Communities competition for making the contest's quarterfinals.

Across the country, the 50 top communities advanced into the quarterfinals. On January 13, the lead sponsors of the America's Best Communities competition will announce the 15 communities that advance into the semifinals of this innovative campaign. Eight will be selected as finalists and win $100,000 to implement their revitalization plans.

Ultimately, the three communities that show the most progress and potential to deliver on their dreams will share grand prizes that total $6 million -- $3 million for first place, $2 million for second, and $1 million for third.

DST, a global provider of transformative technology, strategic advisory, and operations outsourcing solutions, was one of 50 companies that participated in the Adopt-a-Community Program. Other companies included AT&T, Campbell's Soup, Chobani, Dow, KPMG, Verizon, Boeing, Corning, and Xerox.
