In the morning of Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at at the National Oil Corporation headquarters in Tripoli, Eng. Mustafa Sanalla, Chairman of the Board of Directors, met with Eng.Weam Al-Abdali, Chairman of the General Electricity Company, in the presence of Mr. Abulgasem Shengher NOC's member of the Board of Directors, and Mr. Abdul Hakim Al-Mazugi, a member of the Board of Directors of the General Electricity Company.

The meeting discussed ways of cooperation between the National Oil Corporation ( NOC ) and the General Electricity Company, especially with regard of supplying the natural gas to electricity plants across the country to ensure the continuation of its work, as well as it discussed the difficulties and problems that hinders supply operations, also the impact of the security situation and the scarcity of budgets on the completion of development projects for both sides.

In this regard, Eng.Mustafa Sanalla stressed that the National Oil Corporation cooperates absolutely with the General Electric Company and highly appreciates the role of the board of directors and its employees in all parts of Libya, and works to solve all the difficulties with regard to the operation of its power plants to provide citizens with electric power, as he explained that the NOC is doing its best to develop the gas fields and is working hard to meet the needs of large consumers, pointing out that the failure to adopt the necessary budgets for the NOC and its companies May hinder the completion of these projects and therefore the inability to fill the deficit in power plants.

Eng. Mustafa Sanalla suggested to the General Electricity Company to focus on alternative energy projects such as solar energy, especially in areas far from the gas pipeline network, to be as an alternative to the provision of electricity at low costs.

For his part, Eng. Weam Al-Abdali, congratulated the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation on the acquisition of the share of The Norwegian Fertilizer Company Yara and the return of the full ownership of the Urea and Ammonia plants to the Libyan state. He commented: 'We have important projects that will fill the power deficit and we strive to implement them in cooperation with the National Oil Corporation, and we have ambitious goals that will be achieved, with the God willing, and with the continuous and joint cooperation between the two sides.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Anwar Aghil, Manager of The Production Department of the NOC, and Mr. AbdulHamid Doghman, the Committee's Chairman of the Large Consumers Needs, and the specialists of the General Electricity Company, Mr.Hadi Abu Sen and Mr.Mohammed Abu Sweider.
