Communications services companies were more or less flat after a mixed earnings season for the sector's major players.

Shares of cable giant Comcast ticked down after it said it added fewer broadband customers than in recent quarters, the latest sign that media consumption and work-from-home habits during the pandemic lockdown are slowly changing.

Consumers would be able to easily compare rates for home and mobile broadband service under plans given an initial green light by the Federal Communications Commission.

The measure would require broadband providers such as Comcast and rival AT&T to show customers standardized price data, comparable to nutritional stickers on food.
