Natural gas customers in the City of Connellsville, Fayette County will soon benefit from Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania Inc.'s $1 million infrastructure replacement project, starting late January 2016.

To ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, and efficient natural gas, approximately 4,900 feet of underground steel pipe will be replaced with plastic pipe along East Murphy Avenue, North Cottage Avenue, Penn Street, Park Street, Watt Street, C Alley, East Gibson Avenue, Freeman Lane, Edna Street and K Alley. Construction will occur between 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with temporary lane closures during working hours. The project is expected to last through spring, weather permitting.

As approximately 103 customers will experience temporary service interruption, Columbia Gas will personally contact these customers to schedule service restoration. Customers will have their indoor meters relocated to the outside of the premises and their service lines replaced as well. This work will be done at no additional cost to the customer.

All company and contract employees have photo ID badges identifying them as Columbia Gas employees or contractors. Customers are welcome to ask for ID before allowing anyone into their home or can call 1-888-460-4332 for Columbia Gas employee verification.

From 2007 - 2015, Columbia Gas invested nearly $1.1 billion in the modernization and expansion of its distribution system in Pennsylvania. Of that amount, approximately $845 million was dedicated to replacing 730 miles of priority pipe. In 2016, Columbia Gas will invest approximately $210 million in Pennsylvania, with more than $160 million being invested to upgrade aging underground infrastructure.
