Employees pose with a van carrying safety messages about the importance of calling
811 before you dig, as well as calling Columbia Gas and 911 if you smell natural gas.

You'll be seeing our commitment to safety on a highway near you - maybe even in your neighborhood.

We're adding safety messages to many of our newer vehicles. The signs are reminders to call 811 before you dig, and to call Columbia Gas and 911 if you smell natural gas ('Smell and Tell').

'Keeping customers safe is our first priority and part of our culture,' said Dan Creekmur, president, Columbia Gas of Ohio. 'I'm proud that we're taking these messages to customers. I want to be sure that everyone knows about 811 and Smell and Tell.'

Signs have already been added to a number of vehicles in the Columbus area. They'll start appearing statewide over the next few months.

If you see one of our trucks in your neighborhood, feel free to ask our employees about 811, Smell and Tell, and other important safety messages.
