Recently, we applied a new asphalt sealant, Axys mastic surface treatment, to the parking lot at City Hall. The first step was to thoroughly clean the existing asphalt with a broom sweeper and blowers and then to seal all of the visible cracks with an asphaltic material. Once that work was completed, the surface treatment was applied in two coats with a hand sprayer. The final step was to paint new parking stripes and other required items including fire lanes and reserved spaces for the disabled. The result of this project is that the existing asphalt received a coating that will increase its longevity by protecting it from the elements and retain its new black color for several years due to its resistance to ultraviolet damage.
