DTE Energy is engaging in a gas renewal program to improve the reliability and safety of its natural gas service to Dearborn customers.

DTE's endeavor in Dearborn will begin in February and benefit residents and businesses. DTE customers should know it is an extensive project to modernize a crucial utility service and will involve cooperation from home and building owners. Residents may not opt out of having the work done.

The first area to be affected will be generally located between Ford Road to the north, Prospect to the south, Mercury to the west, and Miller to the east. Residents and business owners in this specific area are invited to this first community meeting. (View a map of the affected section, called 'Area 1' by DTE.)

The planned construction work includes entering all homes to relocate gas meters outside.

The work also will involve replacing outdated cast-iron or unprotected steel mains and steel or copper natural gas service lines. This work will mean disruption of easements in front of property.

The meeting will include a question-and-answer session.

Questions may also be directed to DTE Energy by calling 313-256-6227.
