Bilateral cooperation and challenges of the EU

Our bilateral relations are very good. I am hoping that our economic cooperation will be further intensified, emphasized Prime Minister Beata Szydło at the joint press conference with the Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar. She added that the cooperation was to concern i.a. the armaments industry.

The Polish-Slovenian talks were also an opportunity to exchange views on Brexit and migration crisis. Prime Minister Beata Szydło noted that Poland and Slovenia had similar positions on both issues. Our position is that the conditions negotiated with the United Kingdom should comprise relations based on partnership and good cooperation in the field of economy and defence, said the Prime Minister. Referring to migration crisis, she said that it should be resolved where it originated, by means of strengthening the EU external borders and providing humanitarian aid. Poland is very active in this field. This year, the government increased the funds for this purpose, she added.

Security in the region and NATO

Prime Minister Beata Szydło reminded that Polish and Slovenian soldiers would soon cooperate in Latvia. This is the result of the NATO summit in Warsaw. We want to increase the security of the region even further, said the Prime Minister.

Apart from security within the NATO, the Prime Ministers of Poland and Slovenia also talked about cooperation with the Visegrád Group.
