2012 International CES - CSR plc (LSE: CSR; NASDAQ: CSRE) today announced that Disruptive Limited, a leading maker of Gear4 branded iPod® and iPhone® accessories, has licensed CSR aptX audio compression technology to deliver CD-quality stereo audio over a wireless Bluetooth® connection to its latest Gear4® HousePartyTM speaker system. Users can now stream their music wirelessly from their Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet or iPod without needing to dock and without compromising audio quality. aptX enables a growing list of the world's most popular consumer electronic communication and entertainment products to provide high-fidelity audio over wireless links.

"Gear4 set out to develop the best Bluetooth speaker range in the market and to do this it was a natural choice to work with CSR to incorporate aptX," said Tom Old, CMO of Gear4. "The great wireless audio performance aptX helps us achieve, combined with our own SmartLinkTM App features, clearly set the range apart from others."

Many of today's smartphone users choose to have their devices with them around the clock. Traditional speaker dock systems require a physical connection to the smartphone, giving rise to what is sometimes referred to as "smartphone separation anxiety" from its users. In addition to allowing users to keep their devices close to them, the Gear4's aptX-enabled HouseParty speakers mean that any smartphone, tablet or iPod can be their music player.

"Gear4 is a real rising star in the wireless speaker industry, and we're delighted to have worked with them to make aptX part of the HouseParty product line," said Anthony Murray, senior vice president of the Home Business Group at CSR. "This relationship is a testimony both to Gear4's commitment to providing the highest audio quality for their customers, and yet another sign that aptX is becoming the standard for Bluetooth-based audio."
