The consumer prices in 20121) have increased by 1.6%, of which prices for goods increased by 2.0%, while for services - by 0.5%.

The greatest upward pressures on the consumer prices in 2012 were put by goods and services related to housing, food, and transport, whereas drop in communication prices had the most significant downward impact.

Mainly due to the increase of heat energy and natural gas prices (of 14.6% and 17.3%, respectively), the consumer prices in housing group grew on average by 5.6%. Price increase was recorded also in refuse collection and disposal (of 3.9%) and housing rent (of 9.6%), whereas electricity prices diminished by 0.8%.

Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose on average by 3.1%. The most notable price growth was witnessed by vegetables (+15.4%), fruit (+12.3%), meat and meat products (+2.7%), bread and cereal products (+1.8%), milk, cheese and eggs (+1.5%). During the year, reduction was observed in tea and coffee prices (-2.8%).

The price rise in the transport group was mainly influenced by the growth in the fuel prices on average by 4.5%, of which prices of petrol increased by 6.4%, of diesel - by 2.1%. Affected by the growing prices of passenger transport by road and airline tickets, the prices of passenger transport services rose by 2.5%. During the year, the prices of motor vehicles diminished by 6.9%.

Prices of communications were affected by drop in the prices of mobile telecommunication services of 9.3% and Internet connection services of 6.8%.

The most significant price increases among other commodity groups were recorded for catering services, recreational and cultural services, as well as individual care goods. Also prices of TV, audio, visual, photographic and information processing equipment as well as data recording equipment reduced.

Administered prices in 2012 increased by 5.8%, but average level of non-administered goods and services grew by 0.8%.

Compared to November 2012, in December 2012 the average consumer price level remained stable (for goods the average price level increased by 0.1%, but for services remained stable).
