A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said: 'We were called to Cambridge station at 8.50am after workmen reported finding an unexploded device.

'Colleagues from Cambridgeshire Constabulary also attended and an object, which appears to be an old bullet around 15cm in length, was removed.

'The station was evacuated while the situation was assessed, but is now re-opening'
