NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J., Jan. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey (the Alliance) is announcing that Rita Steindlberger, current Senior Director of Programs and Services, will be named the new President & CEO effective February 1, 2016. Rita will fill the vacancy left by Barbara Geiger-Parker.

Since joining the Alliance in 1987, Barbara has developed community-based services to better meet the needs of individuals with brain injury, members of their families, and allied health professionals. She has grown the organization from a staff of four to a staff of 25, and increased the budget 10 fold. Barbara will remain with the Alliance part-time as Chief Strategy Officer to assist with the management transition.

"As President and CEO, I have been privileged to work with an incredible group of individuals and families affected by brain injury and the dedicated volunteers and staff of the Alliance for the past 28 years," says Barbara. "During this time the Alliance has grown to address the needs of the 175,000 people in New Jersey living with challenges due to brain injury. With strong leadership from the Board of Trustees and Rita Steindlberger, the Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey is poised to continue its important work."

Rita holds a Master's Degree from Columbia University and has been with the Alliance for 15 years. During that time, Rita has held numerous positions and has managed all aspects of programs and operations. She is well equipped to step in her new role and lead the organization. "I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to take over the leadership position of the Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey. I am inspired every day by the dedication and hard work of our board, staff, and volunteers," says Rita.

"This change in leadership brings the Alliance to a new level. We retain our knowledge of where we came from so we never forget and we forge a new beginning looking towards growth," says Wallace Kyle, Chairperson. "The board thanks Barbara for her tremendous achievements and service and we emphatically support Rita who will transport our organization to new levels. We are very excited about the future."
