Aerospike today announced that the company has been named in the Who's Who for In-Memory DBMSs1 report published by Gartner, Inc. on January 16, 2014. The report2 observes that, "In-memory DBMS is going beyond hype and is now attracting a wider market interest and greater adoption."

According to the Gartner Who's Who for In-Memory DMBSs3, "IMDBMS technology delivers value where latency, fine granularity of analysis and/or speed of processing are critical to the business." The report continues, "The main business value offered by an IMDBMS is that it enables new business opportunities that would not have been possible previously. One example is SMS discount coupons sent to customers based on their preferences when they are in, or close to, a shop. Another example comes from online gambling, where the handicap is computed during an ongoing match. To support such use cases, both the transactional data and the analytics need to be available in real time."

Aerospike Database for Real-Time Contextual Big Data

Aerospike is the first flash-optimized, in-memory, operational NoSQL database with ACID properties. Today, it is the user profile store of choice for many of today's largest online advertising and omni-channel marketing platforms. Implemented in some of the industry's most data-intensive environments, the Aerospike database is used by customers to personalize consumer interactions across multiple channels, including the Web, mobile, search, video, social, gaming and online retail. These revenue-generating, big data-driven applications rely on Aerospike to rapidly read and write user context in order to deliver the most relevant response. In production environments Aerospike has proven to reliably serve in excess of 50 billion ads per day at a rate of over 2 million transactions per second, with 99% of requests predictably completing in under 1 millisecond.

"Enterprises across a broad spectrum of industries are delivering a new generation of context driven applications that enable personalized interactions with customers by tapping into the vast volume of real-time data flowing in from the Web, mobile devices and even sensors," said Joe Gottlieb, CEO of Aerospike. "We designed Aerospike specifically to reliably and cost-effectively manage mixed read/write transaction processing loads that cannot be handled by existing caching technologies, relational databases or other in-memory database systems. We view the inclusion of Aerospike in Gartner's 'Who's Who for In-Memory DMBSs' as further validation of our ability to deliver on that vision."
