Before joining KLD, Ms. Newman worked temporarily with the Namibian Economic Policy Research Unit studying financial services for low-income and rural households.
Ms. Newman also previously worked with Bridgewater Associates analyzing risk and trends in commodity and currency markets.
Ms. Newman holds a B.A.
in Economics and Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College, with concentrations in Industrial Organization and International Policy.
As a student, Ms. Newman sat on Dartmouth's Advisory Committee on Investor Responsibility, and wrote a culminating paper, "The Effect of Market Concentration on Corporate Social Responsibility." Ms. Newman has studied abroad at the University of Toulouse, France and the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
She is proficient in French.
In her spare time, Ms. Newman volunteers with Boston Cares and Planned Parenthood, manages a mentoring program for seniors from her alma mater interested in careers in social change, and helps coordinate the local chapter of Code Pink Women for Peace.
